In October we recognize Breast Cancer Awareness.  This rosary was inspired by my friend, Pina Scarsella, who lost her 7-year battle with breast and ovarian cancer in 2002.  Pina imagined the experience of death as a feather floating in the breeze ... but not just any old feather --- a vibrant, flamingo pink feather!  She kept a feather boa nearby during her last weeks.

These rose givre beads, both the 9mm facetted rondelles and 15mm pressed glass roses, each captures a pink feather drifting in the breeze! A soft gold luster shimmers on the rosy spacers and beadcaps.  The bronze centerpiece of Our Lady of Sorrows illustrates the healing of St. Peregrine on the obverse.  An intricate bronze crucifix completes the rosary.

Pina was a woman of extraordinary beauty, with an even more exquisite soul.  It was this inner beauty that persevered so vividly during her last days --- even after disease had ravaged her body, her radiant soul shone with ethereal beauty.
